It is always exciting to add new features to your product. And more so when that feature is one that your customers desperately want – Subtasks!
Orangescrum has always been very cognizant of its customers’ needs and what would be best for them.

More than just giving a “me too” feature, we wanted to ensure that our users have a smoother project management experience. As with everything else, having a well-defined process and structure is of utmost importance. And Subtask is that link that further binds your projects tightly and sets you up for success.

We have introduced subtask for OrangeScrum Cloud edition at the moment.
Tasks have always been the heart of OrangeScrum and users know how to get their plans done with it. With the release of the subtask, it will further ease your task planning in OrangeScrum.

Let me take you through how subtasks work in OrangeScrum and how you will benefit from it the most!

What is a Subtask?

A subtask is a useful means to split or break down a task into a number of smaller tasks in order to track each associated activity required for successful completion of the task.

It helps to assign & track it separately to better organize your tasks. It allows each resource to understand their responsibilities.

All the subtasks are linked or related to a parent task. Like a task, OrangeScrum allows you to set priority, % progress, assign to, start and end date and task type for all subtasks.

What are the benefits of subtask?
  • Helps you organize and structure your tasks
  • Allows you to track project goals, deliverables and manage them easily
  • Seamless workflow with no delays and on-time project completion
  • Sub-Tasks essentially helps you define your Work Breakdown Structure which provides clarity and ability to manage related or dependent tasks effectively

Introduction to Project Management Terminologies Orangescrum Tutorial

Project management is becoming increasingly important. In the past, project management consisted mainly of collecting metrics and project data for evaluation, then making adjustments in order to increase productivity and efficiency.

Project managers were also responsible for managing human capital (making sure that a project had enough "people" to get all tasks completed).
With the rapid proliferation of technology, the importance of project management has increased exponentially in terms of the tasks required of a project manager, as well as the knowledge necessary to perform these tasks.

What is a Project?

Projects exist in every enterprise. A project is run with an objective to deliver unique products, services, or events, and also contribute to bring about major organizational changes or recovery from natural or man-made disasters.
Projects have starting and ending points in time and progress through a number of life cycle phases.

You’re Ecommerce Company Project Management Guide - Guest Post by E-commerce Expert Patrick Foster

Project management can be an extremely frustrating process, which is why OrangeScrum exists. Without access to a convenient hub keeping all the important elements, items and resources in one place, the best-laid plan can fall apart over time— but vice versa, even OrangeScrum won’t save you if your project is lacking at the managerial level.

And when you add in the complexities that e-commerce companies must contend with—fluctuating business, hectic daily schedules, a major reliance on external factors—you must conclude that managing a project in the e-commerce world is a tricky prospect indeed.
In this piece, I’m going to detail an e-commerce-flavored approach to high-level project management that you can consider whether you’re developing software, creating content, or doing something entirely different. Let’s get started.

Painstakingly identify your specific goals

99 times out of 100, the ultimate goal for an e-commerce project will be to make more sales, but the difference will be found in the route and time needed to achieve that result. That’s the key for identifying the specific goals for a project.

After all, using a far-away goal just ensures that your project will drag on for years and lose any semblance of structural integrity, oversight or iteration in the process. There are many reasons why agile methodology has become the dominant approach to project management, and one of them is that gives you opportunities to cut failures or invest further in successes.

New Intuitive Project Reports in Orangescrum

In Project Management, project reports are very essential to keep track of project progress, how we fare in terms of planned vs. actual and to identify risks and challenges that need to be addressed.

Report is a self-explanatory statement or summary of facts relating to a specific subject and serves the purpose of providing information to higher authorities including company executives and directors for decision making and follow up actions.

According to Oxford Dictionary, report means "a record of ascertained facts."
Reports provide knowledge about the team or project’s progress on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

The whole team will have a grasp of the team’s accomplishments, plans, and problems periodically and enables them to prioritize issues and resolution.

Why businesses or organizations give so much importance to “Project Reports”?

Project reports and updates are common across organizations.

Project Reports are part of the project documentation and allow you to monitor your key performance indicators (KPIs) & overall project health. The progress is quantified in the reports, so instead of flying blind and hoping for the best, you have a solid foundation to make informed decisions. It also enables you to justify changes made to the project plan.

OrangeScrum brings you further detailed project reports in its Cloud Edition to get real time project and team status for quick assessment and decision making. You can drill down by dates, resources, projects and statuses to drill down to specific aspects of your project.
